To Cygnet Bay

Nice slow start to the day at Cape Leveque, had a swim at the Eastern Beach at the Cape before driving up the road to Cygnet Bay, and in particular the Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm.  Had lunch on arrival and a little look around.   Did a Tides tour on a small boat called a 'Sea Legs'.  Mainly because it has legs - you'll see photos - the legs are wheels which can be raised up and the outboard motor started so it can move about in the water.  Ideal machine for this area because the tides go out nearly a kilometre so a boat ramp is out of the question.
Cruised around Buccaneer Archipelago with a commentary from the driver, Ben, and one of the traditional owners, Donna.  Got up to speeds of 30km/h so it was very exhilarating.   Learnt lots about the area and had a look at how fast the tides run around here.  Great tour.
Then we did a pearl tour, where Ben explained the process for farming the pearls.  Ended in the show room with a $18,000 necklace and a $190,000 single pearl.  Shame I forgot my Visa card or Pam would have been treated to the item of her choice.

All together at East Beach

  2. This is the third time that I have attempted to write a comment here. I wished Pammy a happy birthday, I cracked a great joke about Luke not knowing how to fish because he doesn't know to use rods or hooks - loses its momentum after 3 times! Said how great the photos are and the scenery looks amazing. Reminds me of Karajan so apologies if these comments turn up elsewhere a few times
