To Mt Barnett Station

Well, it is the 5th August and it is Pams birthday, big celebrations planned…just not this year!!!  Nice way to spend a birthday though, driving through the Kimberley.  Very early start again this morning, Luke is a slave driver!!
First stop is Bell Gorge, great water billabong with waterfalls.  Then on to Galvans Gorge where we saw heaps of wildlife, in particular, after swimming in the swimming hole, we saw a small fresh water crocodile on the way home, we have been assured they are harmless, just gives you a bit of a fright. Also found - Kimberley Rock Monitor, Martins Water Monitor, Striated heron, Variegated Fairy Wren, freshwater crocodile, Great Bower Bird, Sulphur crested cockatoo and a couple of black cockatoos.  Steve Irwin would have been proud!
On to Mt Barnett Station, where again, we are sleeping under the stars, what a way to spend your birthday!!!   Luke assures us we can sleep in till 4.30am tomorrow, then swim across the Manning River for a walk to the Manning River Waterfall….I think there are mutterings of a mutiny??
Big birthday party for Pam, about 20 people turned up from all parts of Australia…she was so happy….shame she had only met most of them two days ago!!!

Have a very happy Kimberley birthday

  1. Wow what amazing photos, makes you realise how beautiful our country is - mind you marred a bit by the photos of you in togs! Poor Pammy, squashed between you male Holcombes! How was sleeping under the stars, scary? Love Trish

    1. You have to, you are married to him and now that you are both retired you have to see him in togs a lot more - you've become accustomed to him! If I was Mum I would break out in song here and start singing " I've grown accustomed to his togs!"
