Back to Broome

Woke up to a pleasant morning at Fitzroy Crossing. First up today was a little river cruise on the Fitzroy River.  You’d think it would be a 10 minute cruise on a very short billabong.  However, the Fitzroy River is HUGE.  The lagoon at the crossing is over 10 kilometres long, 20 metres deep and 50 metres wide…in other words – there is water everywhere!  Beautiful cruise along huge cliffs in crocodile invested water.  Relaxing start to the day.  Then  the hard work started – a 6 hour drive to Broome.
Stopped at lunch at the biggest and oldest boab tree in the west – so much character in these tree, they have become our favourites.
Home to Broome, picked up the car, picked up Mum from the airport, checked into the accommodation and went for tea at Matso’s.  Got home too late and too merry to do anything but crash in to bed.  More tomorrow from Broome.

Morning wake up call from you know who!

  1. I thought I was back on my cruise to Alaska, looking at those cliffs on the Fitzroy River! They looked like towers of ice! (Just had to bring my trip in here again!) Looking at your photos and reading the blog makes me want to up and go to Broome and follow the same trek, it looks just beautiful. Very dry but full of colour! Love T & G

  2. We actually mentioned the glaciers when we were going past these cliffs, they look like they could break off, just like the calving of the glaciers. Knowing how much you loved Karajini I know you'd LOVE this trip, maybe next year, if you're lucky you may even get Luke to tell you where to go!! Love Pam and Vernon
